The
La Jolla Ecological Reserve is a beautiful and internationally renowned
snorkeling destination located in downtown La Jolla. Teeming with
marine life both above and below the surface, we will introduce you
and your family to its many wondrous and beautiful species. Our guides will lead your family and children on an incredible adventure that starts at Scripps Park. Snorkelers will get to swim right over groups of schooling Garibaldi and Top Smelt, be up close with the Sand Bass and Surf Perch, and explore the many inhabitants of the local tide pools along the coastline.
Along
the edges of the coastline are many tide
pools where many other species
can be found. Tide pools are rocky areas on the edge of an ocean that
are filled with sea water. Many plants and creatures live there. For
example, you might see starfish, anemones, urchins, barnacles, crabs,
kelp and other sea plants in a tide pool.
After your guided tour, have a quick fresh water rinse, dry off and into your dry clothes. Then relax in the park, while overlooking the the Pacific Ocean, with a healthy & delicious box lunch and water (provided as part of your adventure) and feel free to ask your guide any questions about some of the marine life you just saw. Waterproof cameras are available for you to purchase. Personalized instruction and all your equipment is included.
These trips are perfect for families, though kids (and adults) need to be able to swim! For ages 6 and up! Summer months only. This Snorkeling Adventure is very popular, so reserve early.
