The Stars Of The Sea

Can you believe that there are stars in the sky and stars that sing and dance. There are even stars in the sea!  Today I am going to tell you about those that live in the sea. They are called sea stars.  On almost every seashore you will find sea stars.  Also you can find sea star relatives like brittle stars, sea urchins, and sea cucumbers.  They all belong to a group called echinoderms.  Echinoderms are animals that are spiny skinned.  Sea stars can grow new arms.  If an arm gets torn, ripped or falls off, it would not take long before a new arm would sprout, and grow back.  Sea stars live in the low intertidal zone.  They live there because sea stars cannot live very long without water, and the low intertidal zone gets about 90 percent of water.    Yes, sea stars are wonderful, and mysterious animals.
